Welcome! We are so excited that you are considering or joining us for the Christian Life Program. Below are answers to some of the most common questions about the program and what you can expect over the coming weeks.
General Information
What is Couples for Christ?
Couples for Christ (CFC) is an international Catholic lay ecclesial movement whose mission is to renew the family and defend life. Established in 1981, CFC has grown into a global community dedicated to bringing families closer to God, strengthening Christian marriages, and supporting one another through a network of small faith-sharing groups called households.
What are the core pillars of CFC?
Our community is built on two primary truths:
- Individual Renewal: Bringing individuals into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
- Family Renewal: Empowering husbands and wives to build strong, Christ-centered homes and raise their children in the faith.
Do we have to join CFC if we attend the CLP?
Not at all. The Christian Life Program is a gift to you. While the program serves as the entry point into the CFC community, there is absolutely no pressure or obligation to join at the end. It is entirely your choice.
What is the Christian Life Program (CLP)?
The CLP is an integrated course intended to lead participants into a renewed understanding of God's call to them as Christian couples. It is the primary entry point into Couples for Christ (CFC), focusing on personal spiritual renewal, strengthening family life, and bringing individuals into a closer relationship with Christ.
Who is the CLP for?
The program is open to all married Christian couples who want to renew their faith, strengthen their marriage, and connect with a supportive, faith-filled community.
How much does the program cost?
There is no registration fee or financial cost to attend the CLP. All materials and sessions are provided free of charge. Your presence and open heart are the only investment required!
The Structure & Process
How long is the program, and what is the schedule?
The CLP is an 8-week journey meeting once a week. Each weekly session typically lasts about 2 to 2.5 hours.
What does a typical weekly session look like?
Every session is designed to be engaging and community-focused. The standard format includes:
- Fellowship & Gathering: A time to arrive, mingle, and get settled.
- Praise & Worship: A brief time of singing and opening prayer to focus our hearts.
- The Talk: An inspiring presentation by a guest speaker focusing on a specific theme of Christian life and marriage.
- Discussion Groups: Participants break into small groups, men with men and women with women, to share their thoughts on the talk in a safe, confidential environment.
What topics will be covered?
The 8-week program is divided into two distinct modules:
- Module 1: The Basic Truths about Christianity. This focuses on God's love, who Jesus Christ is in our life, and understanding repentance not as a punishment, but as a turning away from sin and turning toward a life of trust and faith in God.
- Module 2: The Authentic and Spirit-Filled Christian Life. This explores the Christian ideals for loving God, loving neighbor, and building a Christian family. It also focuses on the role of the Holy Spirit in our Christian life, the tools for spiritual growth, and the call for continuous growth and transformation.
Expectations & Logistics
Do we have to attend every single week?
Because each week builds upon the previous one, consistent attendance is highly encouraged so you get the full benefit of the experience. However, we understand that life happens. If you have to miss a session due to work or an emergency, a make-up session can easily be arranged with your discussion group leader.
How many absences are allowed during the 8 weeks?
Participants are generally allowed a maximum of 2 absences. If you know ahead of time that you will miss more than two sessions due to prior commitments, like travel or work shifts, please talk to the CLP coordinators or your discussion group leader so we can work out a plan for you.
Do we need to bring anything?
Just bring a Bible, a notebook, a pen, and an open mind. We will provide any other handouts or materials you might need.
Is childcare provided?
Yes, we will have dedicated volunteers to look after children in a separate room during the sessions so you can fully focus on the program.
What happens after the 8 weeks are over?
At the conclusion of the CLP, couples are formally invited to join the wider Couples for Christ (CFC) community. If you choose to join, you will be placed into a household, a small support group of 4 to 6 couples who meet regularly for ongoing fellowship, prayer, and encouragement in your marriage and family life. Joining CFC is entirely voluntary.
